What is DataVakt today?
DataVakt is a portal being used for my portfolio, building on the DataVakt name from a former business venture. DataVakt.net is a portfolio site, that will serve as the tower under which a podcast will reference, with the hope of encouraging speaking engagements and perhaps, in the future, reviving the business to provide enterprise‑level NOC/SOC services to SMBs and non‑profits as a cooperative network and security solution.
What even is a Vakt?
A Vakt is a Norwegian word defined as “a person employed to look after someone or something” by the Cambridge Dictionary. It’s more simply defined as a guard or guardian.
The DataVakt Shield
In 2020, a year that felt like a decade, I launched DataVakt, a small business intended to help other small and medium sized businesses and non‑profit organizations improve their cybersecurity posture and upgrade their wired and wireless networks. By the middle of 2021 the global landscape had shifted greatly. Those organizations I intended to help no longer had the financial overhead to engage DataVakt’s services, and my own time was increasingly occupied by projects at Walt Disney World. DataVakt as a company was shutdown.
Datavakt Today
Although the company was disolved in 2021, the idea and the spirit of DataVakt—a guardian of data and systems—lives on. The vision has expanded to a podcast witha goal of making the scary, annoying, and often complex boogiemen of cybersecurity, IT, and mentorship understandable, manageable, and available to everyone.
